With that being said, the 4th was an all out insane time. The night opened with Brandon Blue and Dj Imperial D on the ones and twos at Trees for All Kanye Everything. With the spectacular skills making people lose their collective shit all night long. They successfully turned Trees into Deep Ellums biggest sauna dance club with Yeezy loving himself in everyone’s ears all night long.
By the time I was able to get my own shit together after sweating out about 50% of my body's water I began the trek home around 2:30am. When I say the scene was like something out of a Purge movie, it would be an understatement. Mortar shells and bottle rockets were flying and exploding in every direction. I looked both ways down the street and saw multiple physical confirmations as well as a group of people beginning to run from what sounded like gunshots. Black cats? hollow points? Who knows. Some cars had parked in the middle of the street and had a full dj setup with speakers and a pa and everything. I calmly walked across the road away from the panicked crowd only to see a man fire off about 5 shots with a handgun into the sky. Near the corner of Malcom X and Main I saw only what could be described as a monster truck G wagon covered in women hanging off the sides, top, and back, Twerking and flashing. It was amazing. The chaos felt freeing. Where were the cops you may ask? Gone. They most likely said “fuck this” and bailed before they caused some sort of riot. Unfortunately I wasn't in the right state to have my camera out for most of this. You’re just going to have to take my word for it.
